The Succulent Dishes of Ipoh ( Main Course)

From left : How Yee, Marx, Chi Leong, Ru yi Jenny, Joel, Joanna, Yvonne
Beginning our trip to Ipoh, a city which is claimed
to have the 2nd best food in Malaysia after Penang,
we were so excited and hungry  as we starved ourselves so that we can crave for more during our trip in Ipoh.

We reach Ipoh at 1:30pm, and the school finished
at the same time. Thus, it caused TRAFFIC JAM.
oh my god~~~
We finally reach our first destination after 30 minutes!!!
Thanks God~~
Yeah!!!We reach Yong Suan Coffee Shop!!!
The boss started his business since 1960s.
The shop really looks old and classic.....
There is also an original Chinese signboard.....

WOW!!!Can you all imagine?????
A SUPER long queue!!!!
People are going to queue up outside the shop during
lunch hours.
Let us guess...

What are they selling that attracts so many people to queue
up just for their lunch???
This is the Price list of the food sell here.

Ohhhhh??? Nasi Kandar (Nasi Ganja)

Is it unbelievable??

It's really amazing~~~~
A Chinese shop with Indians' food!!!!!
The rice is serving with a piece of fried chicken
and curry on top of it, slices of cucumber, and half salted egg.

It is totally different compare with normal curry chicken rice.

The most satisfying part of this plate of Nasi Kandar
is its curry, thick and saporous. Of course, it is spicy, but the
curry contains many flavours, unlike the classic chicken or fish
curry found in mamak stalls. For spicy lover this is a must try food. The portion of one plate of nasi kandar is enough for a person
and is quite full, small eaters were suggested to share it with 2 person.

Another special thing in this plate of Nasi Kandar

was that they added a spice which named

"belacan kelapa sawit".

With the overwhelming taste of coconut,

the "belacan kelapa sawit"is a bit salty and spicy.
Hmmmmmmm~~~~~~~~~~~~~Yummy!!!!!!!!!

Of course, there are many other choices for you

such as mutton, beef, chicken, fish and viscera.

It have various kinds of curry for you to choose
There are always full of people
This is the photo that we captured with the "tauke" of the shop

Price :
RM4.90 per plate
Business Hours:
9.30am-7.00pm
Location:
Please refer to the map

Without wasting our time, we drove to the
"Restoran Tauge Ayam Lou Wong"
No one will ever be able to miss out this shop
with its newly made signboard and its strategic location.
The place was almost full when we reached.
Luckily we reached there earlier.

Restaurant Bean sprout Chicken Lou Wong

Although the time is still early, but there is already bunch of people eating at there.

We ordered the famous main dishes
the chicken, a plate of bean sprout
and also a bowl of "hor fun" for each one of us.
They do not have any special drinks but herbal tea "leong sui".
There were more side orders available
such as chicken feet, rice and fish balls.
The food came after few minutes and we were shocked...
The boss put the chicken and bean sprouts we ordered
in 2 big plates!!!!!

Everyone thought of the same thing : Are we able to finish it?

The chicken is quite tasteless without the soy sauce
but when we tried it with the sauce, it blends in just nice.

The next thing we munch into is the bean sprouts
It looked fat and juicy, and it tastes just like it looks like. Miraculously, it blended in well with the soy sauce too.
We kind of regretted ordering the "hor fun" as it would be more satisfying just biting into the juicy meat and the big, fat bean sprouts. Beside of hor fun, they also have another choices which white rice. Is totally suitable to be a family dinner as well.

We did our payment and surprisingly they gave us a 10% voucher offer in Lou Wong Confectionery.
This newly opened Lou Wong Confectionery sells numerous types of biscuits from different places.
Biscuit lovers can hop in for a look anytime.

Price:

RM20 for half side of chicken (3-4 persons)

RM40 for whole chicken (5-6 persons)
Business Hours:

10.30am-2.30am
Location:

49, Jalan Yau Tet Shin, 30300 Ipoh, Perak

Lastly, we had our suppers at "Tong Sui Gai".
It is just located beside a primary school.
Many people thought that there are just some drinks that we can order at "Tong Sui Gai".
Actually it is there are varieties of food provided there.
And because of this, it became very famous at Ipoh.
Another food court was located just nearby with some uncles and aunties singing melodious oldies.
Thus, the environment there was quite nice too.

When we arrived,
we just ordered a small bowl of the beef noodles, as we thought that we might be can't finish it. But, after the noodles came,
all of us fight for that bowl of beef noodles!!

Can you imagine how tasty it was or not???
It looks so tasty with that aromatic herbal soup.

The beef was so soft when we bite on it,
along with the tender beef brisket (cow's belly),
Then, we voted to have another bowl.
There are some side orders such as beef balls.
There are two types of beef balls,
one is the normal beef ball which just made by beef, while the other is the stewed beef ball.
Both were also tasty, but of course, the beef and the brisket ( cow's belly) was the main course.
For those who love to eat beef, this is the most suitable dishes for you.Come and try it!

Price:
RM4 each bowl
Take away RM5.20
Add on: RM0.50 each beef ball

Business Hours:
7pm-4am

Location:
Tong Sui gai is located opposite SRJK© Sam Tet, off Jalan Sultan Idris

Wow!!!Look at all this pictures, who still can stand for a minute???
Hehehehe>.<
But!!!Hold on please!!!!
There will be much more delicious and nice foods waiting for you~~
Stay tuned for FOOD HUNTERS next post!!!!
Much more yummy snacks in Ipoh will be HERE~~!!!!!
Don't miss it~~~~~~

I think the font of the blogpost can be improve as in make it more easy to read because readers may not know what to emphasize since it's all in capital letter form.

Nice photo shooting of the foods but if possible make it the words in the picture smaller so it wont be so distracting.

Like the information and instruction of location that is given. Readers may find it easier to search for the stall. Nice music background too.

Keep it up guys! :)

A few pointers.. I don't mean to offend.

Well, I got 2 pointers right after I came into the page.. Try to make the words stand out from the background.. The background kinda makes the words hard to read..
And try to use standard english to make it look more professional. something like "The Nasi Kandar there was very aromatic, enough to capture anyone's attention walking past the area."

I'm not asking you to present really big and complicated words, but do try to show an effort to make your posts look a little more professional.

Just my 2 cents. No offence intended. :)

Thanks for sharing such a great information to us! The pictures make me mouth watering!
And I have tried the tauge chicken before!it's really nice!
But I would like to point out some insignificant flaws in this blog is I think the background is a bit complicated.
Anyway, you guys did a good job!keep it up!!I am looking forward for your next post!!

Anonymous said...

1. The text with the background makes the text hard to read clearly. Maybe you guys could further fade out the background, blur it.

2. The overall design, messy, it looks crowded (the font, the colour) Maybe simplify it to look clean and classy.

3. The main label 'Food Laboratory' doesn't look interesting.

4. The watermark on photos too large. Doesn't look good to the photos.

Greeting to food hunters ~
well,i just passing by .
well,i shall just share some personal opinion about this blog~
the contents are great, details and giving a lot of information.
However i hope food hunters can put more effort on designing this blog ,if not, those information and the effort on "hunting" those food would be a waste.
i didnt feel like wanna read ,because the background and the font are disturbing and hard to read to me~

looking forward to see a better update next time~

The feeling of back to the oldies...
Delicious foods and informative message...
Perhaps there are some improvements needed...
The oldies style of background was appropriate but this background was a bit too old...
The songs are nice too but all of them are from different style...Maybe just choosing one of the styles will be better...
And the font was a little messy...>_<
I like the contents and I would like to see some improvements when I visit this blog again ^_^
Looking forward for yours next post =)

Dear Food Hunters,

I am a Singaporean, all of you have introduced me so many nice foods in Ipoh via this blog spot. If I have the chance to go Ipoh, I will definitely visit the places Food Hunters introduced. I always believe that Malaysia is a Food Heaven. After reading through all the price, I find that the prices are very reasonable.

Next, I would like to comment on the blogskin. The blogskin gave me a feel of the olden days, somehow there are some flashbacks. Not to forget, the font! The font itself is unique but font type and/or size should be equal. The photography skill was great, just that the color contrast together with the blogskin don't really match.

Not to forget, the background music. Personally, I suggest that Food Hunters use instrumental song, instead of a pop song. I get distracted when reading. A blog, if you want to attract a reader's attention, you should put an instrumental song. Let the reader enjoy reading your entry while listening to a relaxing song.

Last but not least, grammar/ sentence structure and the used of words should be formal. This is a food blog, all words should be neat and tidy. If you want to use words like 'WOW', 'Yeah', why not, for example:

Joel: "Yi Wen, what's your opinion on this dish?"
Yi Wen: "WOW! This dish is sooooo delicious!"

But, overall, it's a good start for all of you.
Hereby wishing Food Hunters all the best in their assignments. May all of you score with flying colors.

nice blog ^^
the foods look delicious..:)

Heraddictions said...

Hello everyone! I am a reader from Singapore! ^^

The blog on the whole is pleasant and it is familiar to me as singapore has it too! But a food blog should be neat and tidy. The font is a little too fanciful i guess. The details and the description of the food could have been more appealing and can use more words like mouth-watering, indulgence to describe the food.

The header of the blog could have been some pictures to explain what is the blog about. The background of the blog is rather messy as the picture is being repeated as pixels. There could have been a tag saying where you guys went Day 1 : .... Day 2. .... on the right hand corner of this blog to link to the whole blog to make it neater.

On the whole, good job as beginners and all the best to you guys!!! If you need any help, feel free to ask miss yvonne to ask me~

Yours Truly,
Xeenie Lee <3
